Making Money - Orc Pit Boss Lair

Here is a technique that is capable of generating a substantial number of shillings in a relatively short period of time.  It requires a minimum of 4 players to execute but can also be carried out by a large number of participants.  In fact done properly it makes an excellent guild activity.

Key Roles / Required Participants

1) Orc Pit Boss Slayer
  • Must be capable of killing the Orc Pit Boss quickly and inexpensively.  The best character for this role is usually a high HP pure fighter character.
2) Map holder
  • Any character / mule capable of navigating the orc caves safely.

3) Loot Relayer

  • Any character / Mule capable of navigating the orc caves safely.

4) Shipper/Seller

  • One or more Riija Masters to run loot from the spring of tranquility to the Main Land to sell.  Please note Riija mages with the Shal'ille spell Rescue have a distinct advantage since they can cut down on their running time from Ko'Kotan to the Spring.

Background:

Please read the tip titled "Orc Pit Boss Lair Primer"  for a general description of how to get to the Orc Pit Boss Lair and the basics of how the map functions.  http://www.meridian59.co.uk/articles.php?aid=7

Procedure:

1) Have your Map Holder character stand in a safe area of Grogg's Anti-chamber.  This character's main purpose is to prevent the map from resetting.   It is a good idea to send this character in either empty or close to empty.  The only gear this character will need is a mechanism to allow it to see in darkness (but torches or spell based methods are also fine).

2) Instruct the Orc Pit Boss Slayer to do the following cycle of steps in a loop:

  • Enter the lair, Kill the Orc Pit Boss
  • Go into the treasure room grab the loot
  • Return to the Grogg's Anti-chamber map and drop the loot on the floor at the feet of the Map Holder
  • Allow approximately 2 min to allow the Boss to respawn, then repeat the cycle

3) Let the loot pile up for a few cycles (approximately 10 - 20 cycles).

4) Move Loot Relayer character(s) to Grogg's Anti-Chamber.   As with the Map Holder, it is a good idea to send this character in either empty or close to empty.  Have the Loot Relayer perform the following cycle of steps in a loop:

  • Load up with loot by order of value of the items (Mystiks, Robes less common neru sword drops).
  • Run Loot Relayer from Grogg's Anti-Chamber to the exit from the Lair which leads to the Spring of Vitality.
  • Move to the edge of the one way drop off which leads to the spring (but take care not to fall off.
  • Pass off loot to Shipper/Seller character waiting at the drop off (either by dropping on the floor or by offering directly).
  • Repeat the cycle for the duration of time that there is accumulated loot to sell on the floor of Grogg's Anti-Chamber.

5) Move the Shipper/Seller character(s) to the Spring of Vitality and position it (them) near the exit from the Orc Pit Boss Lair that feeds into the Spring map.  Make sure to bring a significant supply of elusion and rescue reagents.  Carry out the following cycle of steps:

  • Accept loot from the Loot Relayer until the Shipper/Seller's inventory is full
  • Elusion to sell the items on the main land
  • Elusion to the Aerie Guest House, walk to the entrance to the caves and then rescue or run back to the Spring of Vitality.
  • Reload and repeat for the duration of the hunt.
